Speak up for those who cannot
speak for themselves, for the rights
of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly.
Defend the rights of the poor
and needy.

Edy, and Casa de Fe Orphanage Director Patti Sue Arnold
At six months of age Jefferson
rolled off the bench he slept on in his parent's hut in the Rain
Forest and fell into the cooking fire. His mother was outside
working and did not hear his cries. He was burned from knee to toe
so severely that his toes were eventually removed. Six months later
he was found abandoned and brought to "Casa de Fe". Due to his
scaring he was easily identified by the local mission hospital that
originally treated him for his burns.
Jefferson has had two
surgeries to release the scar tissue around his ankles allowing his
feet to drop down into a normal walking position. He is a normal well
adjusted toddler racing around the house. He has never walked with
toes so doesn't know the difference.
We often talk of God testing
us with fire, I believe God has great plans for this small but
energetic emissary who He has already tested with fire and came out
smiling.
See that you do not look down on one of
these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the
face of my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:10
