Edison

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights

of all who are destitute.  Speak up and judge fairly.

Defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Proverbs 31: 8-9

Testimonials

Edison is a truly amazing child the second after Cintia that God sent for me to care for.

Edison’s mother was raped by her father. Not something most people would publicize but an important fact to know as it is serious problem her in Ecuador. At 6 months of age, his mother herself only 15 years old gave Edison over to a Catholic orphanage. All of this before he was diagnosed as being profoundly deaf.

Edison came to live with us when he was 2 years old. He had already been fitted with 2 hearing aids at the time but due to his profound hearing loss the aid did little to improve his hearing. In July of 2004, Cochlear a major manufacture of cochlear implants donated a $15,000 implant to Edison and in September of 2004 Edison had his surgery. In November of the same year Edison heard his first sound and has never looked back.

He is a well adjusted, beautiful gift from God.

Anyone interested in coming to Ecuador to work the next school year with Edison to prepare him to inter mainstream kindergarten feel free to talk to me any time. I know God has already picked out the perfect person.
